So I think I jinxed myself a few weeks ago by saying that my shop was doing well, because now it's SOOOO SLOW =[ And I'm doing everything I normally do.....At least one of my necklaces made it to the front page a few days ago. It was only for a few hours though, but I'll take whatever I can get!

Sorry all, it's been awhile. A LONE while. Anyway, nothing new is going on. Same old, same old.

Although I thank the comment who said I took good pictures, I, however, don't think they're that good. We're always more critical on our own work though. I'll give a few tips, so hopefully this helps. I always use the macro (?) setting on my camera. The one used for close up shots. I photograph all my items on a white background (a piece of white paper). Finally, I photograph in a well light area, setting up a desk lamp right ontop of the items I'm photographing.

Those we're amazing or earth shattering hints, but hopefully they helped you. If all else fails, use photoshop =]

Hi all, not too much is happening in my life at the moment. Same old, same old. I did see the movie Sicko last night, which was really very good. So far it's the only Michael Moore movie I have seen. It was really well done and some of this information about other country's health care systems is unbelievable. I recommend that you go see it. The parts about Cuba were entertaining/unreal.

On to some pleasant ETSY news, my shop has been doing really well the last two weeks. The beginning of June was slooooooooooooooow, but it picked up, and I've come to the realization why. Before, I would list once a day, on a good day, or try to relist something. The last two weeks, I've (re)listed 2-3 items a day and made 13 sales. This is constant to other times when I've listed a few items a day. I'm no ETSY expert, but the more you list, the more you're seen, which means, logistically, the more sales you get.

Now, my newest necklace, which I love and want to keep. Go get it now, it's one of a kind =]

Good news, I finished my bag! I sewed in the lining in last night. Here's a (not very good) picture of how it turned out. And I get to use it this afternoon because I'm going to the beach =]

I also got a cute, plaid summer dress in the mail a few days ago from The Peach. I love the dress, but it was too long, so I hemmed it shorter and used the excess fabric to make a belt. It actually turned out good! I'm so proud of it and can't wait to wear it! You see, every time I try to sew, it usually winds up as a disaster, but not this!

So I FINALLY finished my beach bag, the beading at least. Now I just have to sew in a lining. Than I'm done. Of course I still have to buy some some fabric first, so that will prolong the finish of the bag.

So after a few weeks of being busy at work, I have virtually no hours this week, which makes me upset. They cut everybody's hours. I now have 8. I hate when they do that. I'm going away with some friends in a few weeks and I'm trying to save up some money, in fact, i'm trying to save money in general, since I have very few expenses. This doesn't work if you're not making much to begin with. I feel as if every time I go out of my way there, it's never noticed. At least they cut everyone's hours. That makes me feel a little better....

At least I'll have more time to work on my jewelry, which is a plus. I have some supplies to use up, plus I want to buy some more shrinky dinks. And I'll be able to finally finish up my beach bag. Evey time I sit down to work on it, I get distracted! Hopefully my week will be productive and will result in a happy Etsy shop!

So, I'm really bad with the blogging thing, I always have been. I hate how it's summer and I have soooo many projects that I want to accomplish, but I still have no more time to get them accomplished than I do during the school year. I'm almost done with the bag I'm making myself. Hopefully I'll be finished with the beading tonight, then I just have to line it. I decided to add a palm tree, which makes it look super cute.

On another note I've made more collage necklaces, which are super fun to make. Now if only they would sell....

So even though it's summer, I've been busy with work and haven't had tons of time to accomplish what I want to. I did go to the beach yesterday, which was fun =] It was really pretty, but the water was freezing.
In terms of my crafting, I haven't had a chance to finish the beach bag I'm making for myself, but I ran out of beads so I was delayed for a few days. I should finish soon, the beading is more than halfway done. I made lots of stickers with my new circle punch, but stupid me forgot to buy more sticker tape, so I can't finish that up yet.

I've also made these fun college necklaces, but they aren't getting too much attention on ETSY
yet. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

Now that school's over I have so many projects I want to accomplish. First off, I'm making myself a beach bag since I couldn't find one that I like. It's going to look similar to this tote that I made last year for the EtsyCraft contest, except it's going to be blue and say 'beach' with a fish.

I also want to get into card making to go with some of the stickers I've been making. This is my first card attempt, which did turn out pretty well. Of course, I made them so I'm kind of biased =]

Next, I want to make some simple beaded cards. Hopefully that will turn out well.

I'm finally finished with school! My last final was today. Now I just have to wait for my grades. Here's a picture of my final project, my Gwen Stefani chair. I don't really like how it turned out. Of course, as soon as I finished I had so many better ideas for it.

Wow, I've defiantly been bad with posting on here the last week or so. I've just been so busy with school and finals, which are no fun. I just have one more final on Monday morning and them I'm done for the semester. I finished my last project in my jewelry design class. I made a cuff, even though everyone else made rings. What fun is it to be like everyone else. I really like how it turned out, even though it's not 100% perfect. I still have to clean it up a bit.

One of my goals for the summer is to really concentrate on my Etsy shop. Now that school's over all I have to worry about is Etsy and my part time job. I really want to hit 200 sales by the end of August, which I think I can do if I really work hard and list continuously. I have 140 now, so that would be 60 sales in 3.5 months. I think I can do it. If not by the end of August, than at the end of September. I have so funky necklaces to list, similar to this one but I need chain to finish them. And I can't buy more supplies until I sell some items. It's a vicious cycle!.

Sticker making is so much fun! Cutting out circles by hand is not, however. I bought some origami paper the other day and once I realized I was no longer any good at creating origami out of it, I decided to make stickers!

So many things to do, so little time. Story of my life!

I've been busy with my crafty purchases. My sticker maker is tons of fun! I made a lot of cute promo stickers. Now If only I would get some orders so I could send them along. Sticker ,making is very relaxing. Its therapeutic almost. My sticker maker came with 20 feet of sticker tape, and I'm almost out already.

I bought some shrinky dinks yesterday. I love playing with them. I made a bunch of pendants, then realized that I wanted to make them into necklaces, only to discover that I need more chain. It's a vicious cycle of supply buying. I'm only allowing myself to spend what I have in my paypal account to limit my purchases. I've bought alot these last two weeks. I've been feeling sad and shopping cheers me up =] So someone buy something so I can buy supplies!

Finals are coming up soon, I'm not excited. I just want this semester to be over already. I don't even want to go to my jewelry class tomorrow, and I usually love that class!

New earrings everyone! I ordered these fun yellow hoops from another Etsy seller and than added some bling to them to dress them up! I love how they turned out; they're fun, bright, and great to wear on a summer day. They match my personality to a t. I love the crystals on them too. I bought a gross of them in red and have started gluing them everywhere. I added them to a heart necklace, which was my original intent when buying them, to my cellphone, and now these earrings.

In other news I bought a sticker maker yesterday from Michaels. It's PINK, what could be better. It only makes stickers up to 1.25." I should have bought the larger one. Next time I go back I'll probably use the 40% coupon to get the bigger one. I started making stickers out of everything. I made a few promo stickers to send out with orders. If only I would start selling again. The last few days have been super quiet. I want to make some fun stickers to sell, I just can't think of any unique ideas. I started experimenting with the sticker maker last night. So far felt and glitter are a no go =[ The felt stretched apart when I pulled the sticky stuff off the back to stick it. The glitter just got everywhere, which usually happens when I use glitter.

For my final project for one of my classes this semester I have to pick a designer, I choose Gwen Stefani, write a paper about them, their style, and their influences, MAKE A CHAIR based on their design style, and interview someone who works for them/sells their licenses/etc. I bought some chair making supplies yesterday. I going to make it out of wood. My plan is actually hard to describe, so I guess you'll have to wait and see my finished product in a few weeks. Hopefully it turns out as planned.

I've decided to feature other ETSY sellers on my blog from time to time. I was searching around the jewelry category the other day, and found these beautiful sterling silver free form cuffs made by Kim Riedel . They are absolutely stunning. I wish I could make metal work as beautiful as these some day.

This one reminds me of the ocean and huge crashing waves.

It was so nice outside today. It reminded me of summer, since it was about 80*. I went outside in shorts and was upset when it was time to go to class. I'd rather be outside. I love summer, the beach, and yummy iced coffee. Since it was beautiful outside, here are some flowers from my shop.

Today is my birthday! I guess it was okay as far as birthdays go. Turning 20 seems so much older than 19! My boyfriend took me out to dinner tonight. I ate tons of food and got some present. Presents are always fun. I wish the rain would just stop already. It's cold and rainy outside. I know April showers bring May flowers, but we're waterlogged here.

I was super excited yesterday because I got supplies in the mail, which is always fun! Here are some of my newest earrings. They shall be arriving in my ETSY shop shortly. Enjoy =]

So I convinced my boyfriend to buy me shoes for my birthday last night! He hated it, I loved it =]
I got a pair of red flats with a bow on them and a pair of yellow wedges. I can't wait to wear them! Now only if it would stop raining outside so I could.

I also bought myself another birthday present from Etsy. This time it was a jewelry display from PeppermintSoda.
Now I can keep my jewelry nice and organized!

I also listed this pair of earrings. The ribbon beads were created by another fabulous Etsy seller. I just made the earrings. They're so summery.

Tuesday's my birthday =] I'll be 20. Wow, that makes me feel old. Twenty is an odd age. Your no longer a teenager, but not old enough to drink legally. No fun! Hopefully it will be a good year. I think I'll buy myself some present from ETSY to cheer me up! But what to buy? Maybe some beads? I'll be sure to post here with my finds!

I really and truly are going to keep up with this blog this time. I know, I know, I say that every few months and forget about this, but this time I'm not!

I'm going to post some pictures of the projects I made in class so far. I'm taking intro to jewelry design this semester. This first one is my first project, it's really just a giant squiggle. We had to make something with positive and negative shapes. It was my first time sawing / filing.

This necklace is something I made for myself. My second project is class was a pin, which I don't have a picture of yet. I made two overlapping clouds. I loved how the clouds came out, so I made a necklace. The project I'm working on now is a pair of earrings. They're not done yet, so I don't have a picture of them, but I will by next week. I hate soldering on jump rings. Very annoying and it took me forever, probably because I suck at it =]

New Blog!

So this is the new blog I just set up to go along with Designs By Lisa. Hopefully this will evolve into some traffic and sales. I could use some sales right about now. I'm sure this is the same for some other people, but I hate how I have put alot of time and effort into this, even though I'm sure I could still be putting in more, and have gotten such a little amount of sales in return. Oh well, at least it's fun and I enjoy doing it.

Recently I have made this: I was inspired by your average, ordinary, run of the mill type boring white Chinese food containers. My new one is much more exciting, however smaller. It's made out of scrapbooking paper and sealed with decoupage to make it stronger and withstand some use. The inside is donw with a beach print. It's very spring and summer - y and perfect for holding a small gift. It can be purchased here for $6 plus shipping.

I was feeling rather crafty and made this as well:

It's a keepsake made out of an Altoid Sours Tin. I covered it with scrapbooking paper which is similar to the Spring time chinese gift box. This is perfect for saving memories and small photos in. You can collect scraps of what you did in the month of March here, so at the end of the month you have a collections of odds and ends and memories. Keep all your memories in one place.
